HOLLYWOOD COMMISSION LAUNCHES NEW RESPECT ON SET™ TOOLS

POWERFUL TURNKEY RESOURCES TO SUPPORT INDEPENDENT PRODUCTIONS

New Online Hub Streamlines Anti-Harassment Policies, Support Resources, and IATSE Low Budget Agreement Implementation, Tailored to Independent Production

LOS ANGELES, Calif., November 14, 2025—Independent productions have powerful new tools to create safe and respectful productions, from pre to post, as the Hollywood Commission launches a new suite of services as part of its Respect on Set™ initiative.  A first-of-its-kind online resource that simplifies and supports anti-harassment practices, Respect on Set is available at www.respectonset.org

Developed in close collaboration with INDIE - comprised of Producers Jeanette Volturno, Monica Levinson, and Bart Rosenblatt - the new Respect on Set tools bring industry-aligned best practices, templates, and implementation resources together in one place. The Hollywood Commission’s surveys of entertainment workers have found that compared to their major-studio counterparts, workers on low-budget productions experience more sexual coercion and assault, but have fewer tools and support to report or prevent these abuses. Independent productions typically carry the same anti-harassment responsibilities as large-budget studio projects, but without the same resources or infrastructure.

Respect on Setchanges that, and these new tools are a landmark moment for industry-wide change. By providing everything independent productions need, and by putting everything in one place with simple, easy-to-follow steps, these tools are an important step toward an industry where all workers can be confident that their workplaces are safe and responsive—whether they are working on a low-budget production or the biggest tentpole.

A Practical, Turnkey Toolkit - Built for Independent Productions

Respect on Set now delivers a single, easy-to-navigate hub with new, ready-to-use tools to support producers in creating clear expectations, including:

  • Sample codes of conduct

  • Customizable policy templates

  • Pre-production audit and implementation checklist

  • Communication tools

  • Training resources

  • Practical guidance for fulfilling IATSE LBA responsibilities

Supporting a New Standard for Independent Productions

The IATSE Low Budget Agreement’s 2022 provisions marked a significant step for independent productions, establishing industry-wide expectations for consistent practices to address harassment and abuse. In collaboration with a subcommittee including producers and IATSE, Respect on Set–and the new tools launched today–helps producers put those standards into practice.

IATSE International President Matthew D. Loeb said, “The efforts to provide safe and healthy workplaces free of abuse, sexual assault and harassment depend on our continued vigilance. The Respect on Set resource provides a powerful new tool to further advance that goal.”

INDIE’s Jeanette Volturno, Monica Levinson and Bart Rosenblatt added, “This is the resource independent producers have been asking for. Like everyone in our industry, producers are committed to safe, effective, and creative sets – places where everyone can do their best work to tell the stories that entertain the world. Through our multi-year collaboration with the Hollywood Commission and IATSE, these tools help make that possible.”

Anita Hill, chair of the Hollywood Commission, said, “Independent and low-budget productions have often lacked the resources to provide their workers with the protections they deserve. This new toolkit makes it easier than ever to fulfill those obligations. Respect on Set—from pre to post—is the tool that producers have been asking for: their checklist of what to do, when to do it, and how to get it done.”
