VALUES

Our core values are the foundation for how we conduct ourselves and guide each aspect of our work with the entertainment industry. Our core convictions are integrity, respect, and inclusion and accountability.

INTEGRITY

We believe that lasting solutions to systemic bias and abuse require honest and thorough examinations of policies, practices and procedures for addressing them.

We affirm the integrity of our results by:
• Engaging experts to inform the development of our resources and responses to bias and abuse in industry workplaces.
• Collecting and sharing industry climate information from workers gathered through surveys and reporting platforms while protecting individual workers’ privacy.
• Collaborating with representatives from every sector of the entertainment industry to develop and operationalize our offerings.
• Providing resources to replace the culture of silence—that keeps victims of abuse and bias from coming forward—with transparency and support.

RESPECT

We believe that every worker in the industry deserves the respect of their superiors, peers and subordinates.

We actively practice respect for ideas and human dignity by providing training and resources that:
• Encourage everyone, regardless of their position in the workplace, to appropriately express opinions and ideas.
• Enable listening to what others have to say, questioning our own assumptions, and considering different perspectives.
• Consider the effect of words and actions on others.
• Acknowledge workplace power and privilege differentials and reject coercive and exploitative behaviors.

INCLUSION & EQUITY

We believe in the value of diverse, inclusive and equitable workplaces-- that diverse and inclusive companies are more productive, more innovative and less likely to tolerate sexual harassment and other abusive behaviors.

We demonstrate our commitment to promoting diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces throughout the industry by:
• Identifying and reducing the barriers to more diverse hiring and promotions.
• Encouraging new perspectives to be heard and acted upon.
• Drawing on differences among who we are, what we’ve experienced, and how we think to shape our solutions.
• Committing to everyone’s equal opportunity for success in the workplace.
• Ensuring that all workers – regardless of position, place, or background – feel confident and comfortable in thoughtfully voicing their opinions and concerns without fear of humiliation, persecution, or retaliation.
• Identifying and eliminating individual and institutional biases, prejudices, and discriminatory practices.

ACCOUNTABILITY

We believe that creating a climate of accountability for abuse and bias that can be shared throughout an organization and the industry begins with leadership.

We demonstrate how all organizations can take responsibility for addressing outcomes that arise from abuse and bias by:
• Providing leadership guidance and training on methods and communicating for achieving safe and unbiased workplaces.
• Encouraging adoption of practices aimed at preventing abuse and bias before it escalates.
• Providing training for workers on how to embrace individual responsibility for achieving a safe workplace.
• Prioritizing the elimination of retaliation against workers who come forward to complain about abuse.
• Identifying a range of appropriate responses to hold workers accountable for workplace violations.
